Valentines Day: Date Ideas & Outfits to Match

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner! I’ve been putting together Valentine’s outfits for a while now. It’s so fun to style for a specific holiday - especially one that involves RED (one of my favs). Check out this throwback Valentine’s Day Outfits video from 3 years ago!! This year I wanted to revamp that idea and give you guys more fun date & outfit ideas!

Everyone celebrates Gal/Val-entine’s day different, so whether you are staying in for a girls night, treating yourself to some strawberries & champs in the bath, or going out for a romantic adventure - have fun styling up a festive look!

  1. Bike Ride

For a very fun and casual Valentine’s day take a bike ride along the coast or through suburbia. This is such a fun date idea for anyone! Grab your friend, pack some snacks and don’t forget to grab a cute pic of you and your bicycle along the way, I’m sure you look adorable. Bonus if you ride to a cool destination like a look out, or the spot where you first met.

I’m wearing my Red HeyGang overalls for a major pop of color- comfy and functional! I paired them with my hightop chucks and big collar blouse - I think this look came out fun, sporty, & romantic! Of course I added my Red Zenni frames to accessorize. These are childs frames which fit my small face perfectly. LOL. (Here is a regular adult option) - Oh! I can’t forget to grab my bike - check out how the full look came together HERE.

2. A Trip to the Flea Market

Such a perfect adventure- the best excuse to get out of the house and wear something fun! Bring your favorite tote for all the goodies you might find! My look for this Date Idea is playful and charming. I love pairing this quilted dress with red! Don’t forget to grab a hat because it can get sunny at those flea markets! Wearing my Ma’am slides for comfort and style. Of course I can’t leave out my go-to red lip. You can see my whole collection of lip colors HERE.

3. Picnic Date

Here’s an excuse to pull out that big basket you probably thrifted and put it to good use! A picnic date can be so beautiful! Pack your partner’s favorite bottle of bubbly, some chic glasses, a blanket, some snacks, and you are set!

If you’re looking for some picnic essentials - the thrift store is a great place to snag a big quilt and basket! I recently went to @wildestdreamsconsignment and found some great picnic quilts and glassware! You can watch it HERE.

I’m wearing a vintage Gunne Sax dress that was passed down to me from my friend’s mom. I paired it here with some of my oldest thrifted roper boots! I think the look turned out pretty fairytale romantic, which is what I was going for.

Now I just need to find a hillside & a sunset!

4. Botanical Gardens

A stroll through nature at the botanical gardens just sounds D R E A M Y. I don’t know about you guys, but I LOVE flowers. (In fact I used to be a florist! Check out this fun arrangement I made). My dad used to take me up to the mountains with a book of Sierra Nevada wild flowers and we would spend the day hiking and identifying them all. If that sounds too nerdy to you, most cities have a local botanical gardens you can check out and don’t forget to bring your camera to snap photos of the beauty all around you- and snag a picture of your beautiful outfit as well!

I wanted to wear something that felt fun, flowy & romantic. Of course it only felt right to opt for a floral print, so I did!

This dress from Sézane makes me feel like a princess! You’ve got to see the back tie detail, I wore it last Summer and paired with a sun hat. It is *chef’s kiss*! I paired it with these little mary jane velvet shoes from Everlane.

I accessorized it with my little vintage beaded bag, pearls are a huge trend for 2022 - so I thought this was the perfect touch. In case you missed it , I recently shared My Favorite Trends for 2022. And if you want to get crazy- you can pick up the same fun film Holga camera I have. It’s a toy camera so it’s super easy to use and you can send your film to get developed here.

5. Theater Date

I ADORE going to the theatre! Any sort of live performance and my whole being lights up! What a great way to spend Valentine’s day with your friend or partner. Grab tickets to your favorite band, or check out your local indie theatre for fun throwback movie nights. Jason and I recently went to watch Grease playing at our local Fox Theatre here in Bakersfield and it was SO MUCH FUN! I actually went in this exact outfit - I shared how I felt about it HERE.

This vintage patchwork dress is a favorite in my collection and I only recently realized how perfect the colors where for Val Day! Don’t forget to sneak in your favorite snacks and drinks in a big tote, like this one from ABLE.

6. Cozy Night In

Did someone say Wine Night? Grab your favorite book and a delicious glass of wine and snuggle up in your most comfortable clothes! Just because you are staying in doesn’t mean you can’t feel festive. Lounge looks are IN. Bring on the sweat suits and silk PJ’s. I love a “PJ all day” look!

One of my best thrift finds was a matching red sweatsuit! It’s the best lounge around the house all day outfit and the red color is perfect for Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to grab your readers to accessorize the look, and slippers if you have them (Here are my favorites)!

Whether you are single and ready to mingle, or in a committed relationship, I hope you remember how valuable and worthy of love you are this Valentine’s Day. If you are single, go check out a funny reel I made of things I wish I said to my exes. If anything, you can look back on your past bad relationships and be thankful for where you are today! I love you all!
