My Favorite Trends 2021

Now I’m typically not someone who follows trends just to follow them. In general I wear what I like. But I thought it would be fun to share some of the trends I’ve been noticing this year with you guys! While there are so many out there to choose from, I’m going to tell you my favorites and show you some of the ways I’ve styled them! Be sure to check out my spring thrift haul for more of my finds!

1. Oversized Shirt Collars

I’m pretty sure you’ve seen me posting a ton of pictures with this trend, I’m kind of obsessed (I also talk about them in my “My Favorites“ video)- it’s modern high fashion meets vintage prairie girl style. I think this trend is so fun and so versatile. These detachable collars are pretty affordable and can take the place of a necklace, or just add an extra element to a top or dress. The trend is funky, feminine, and all-around awesome! Check out some inspiration below along with @babygoestowork - where I got some of my collars!

2. Mini Skirts

After I turned 30 I hardly ever wore mini skirts, but now that I live in the desert, I’ve been finding myself gravitating more towards them - they were also on a lot of runways for spring! They look amazing with boots, cute flats, or a great pair of wedges! I’m currently enjoying rocking a high-waisted mini jean skirt with a tank top - it’s fresh, cute, and comfortable.

3. Big Patterns/Bold Prints

Okay, I’ve come across SO many great pieces with bold prints lately and I just think they’re so fun and unexpected! I like to pair them back to more basic pieces so that the look doesn’t feel too loud or overpowering, but has just enough pop to make people notice. I’m currently obsessed with my patchwork pants, polka dot pants, patchwork maxi dress, and green gingham top! Be sure to check out my friend @abbyontheinternet’s adorable pink floral dress in the inspo pictures below!

***Okay, the next few styles are some trends I haven’t worn as much but am open to exploring!

1. Y2K

The rise of y2k fashion has been really big this spring - Some brands that do it really well are House of Sunny and Paloma Wool. I haven’t purchased much in this trend because to be honest I am not sure how I feel about it! Maybe because I wore these things in high school (graduating class of 2004 here), and that feels like not too long ago! However, there are some amazing bloggers like @taylor_made_style, @thatcurlytop, and @jennaphipps who rock it so well! So make sure to check them out for more Y2K inspo. Recently, I came across this incredible Y2K daisy dress and decided to try it out. The print made me really happy so I thought I would try styling it less like Y2K and more like Tiny Acorn. Hence the puff sleeve blouse and oversized collar!

2. Headscarves

Okay, so I really love this trend because it has a vintage 60s/old Hollywood vibe to it! Silk headscarves and fashion headwraps are an easy addition to any look - wear one with a sundress or a cute peasant top and shorts. They’re the perfect accessory for a picnic in the park!

3. Bucket Hats

This is another y2k fashion trend that I’ve enjoyed wearing - I even have one for Monty! I wore mine with jeans, a kimono, and flats, but they’re also cute with dresses and sneakers!

So there you have it, my favorite spring 2021 trends! I hope this inspires you to find some of these looks and pieces to add to your wardrobe as well!
